What to play and how to play it

  • Ducky

During these uneasy times when we have to stay for a while in the house and play games with no way of getting to the bar and having a very adult drink to quite adult-ly lose control over the actions till we can’t remember anything the next day it is important to know what kind of games do you play and what levels of interactivity in your games you prefer. Maybe you are really into those TV shows, where you have no control over the situation, or maybe you are one of those creative personalities who loves to build giant golden cocks (roosters if you’re from the US) in Minecraft? I’m saying that it’s about time we explore the ways you play and the games you prefer to know yourself better. And – hopefully – to decide what you like to play so you never again buy a game and… Read More »What to play and how to play it

Untitled Goose Game: Goose stole my gameplay!

  • Ducky

You know how people always argue, that the gameplay is more important than any kind of story, then some degenerate appears that says that the graphics is the thing to go, but they never even anticipated THE GOOSE! The Untitled Goose Game appeared and proved once and for all – gameplay and the story both matter, because Goose game had nothing to offer in both. But people did have fun with it and people still care about it! How can I say, that UGG has nothing?! Well, my friend, the game has a gimmick. It has nothing to do with the gameplay or story. Strategy games and pacing

  • Ducky

Pacing of the game is important because if you pace your game right, it makes players pay more attention and look for more stuff to do in your game. Also good pacing is benevolent to the game flow in general. Everything will feel natural and nothing will feel out of place. Strategy games have it the most obvious way and although due to various personal reasons I didn’t prepare well for the episode, I hope sharing my experience and thoughts is still acceptable. TeS4: Oblivion. The game that we don’t deserve

  • Ducky

We deserve much better! We deserve more! We should be able to play a game that has more work put into it, that has less unbelievable things that break immersion in it. We deserve more and we deserve it better. And we got Skyrim. Yeah… About that… But this podcast is about Oblivion, it is about comparing Oblivion to Morrowind, which is better and Skyrim, which is also better, to try and figure out what was so wrong about the Oblivion, that it is rarely remembered as a game but mostly for some history and facts about the imperial province of Cyrodiil. And I think we can grasp it, guys! This Episode became possible thanks to beautiful patrons: Heather Welch Tomas Høgemark Nathan Neumeister Have fun, have a good time, come around to say hi. In space no one can hear you being bored

  • Ducky

What is the idea of video games and gaming in general? Excitement, fun, emotions galore! Not boredom, isn’t it? Although there are games, that rely on you having a good time by repeating the same process over and over there are games like Farming sim and so on, but sometimes when you hear that there is an Alien game you don’t expect it to be a farming sim. You expect it to be something more exciting. A horror game maybe? But you will be gravely mistaken for the game is not really scary nor it’s well-put together. I am going through all of the problems with the idea of the game in the podcast and you can agree or disagree with me, but the fact remains the same – game could have been improved and improved a lot! This Episode became possible thanks to beautiful patrons: Heather Welch Tomas Høgemark… Read More »In space no one can hear you being bored

The Prey shall come

  • Ducky

Did you ever play the original Prey? Chances are – you never heard, that there was a Prey before Bethesda’s Prey. And chances are – you may have never seen it. But if you did – you know how good it was and what a journey it sent you off to. The story, the uncertain gravitation, the portals, all that appeared as a novelty, that didn’t get old. But there is also a chance you enjoyed the new Prey. And you might not understand why people trash it in comparison to the original. Well, if you are curious to know what the original did so good, that the newer couldn’t and what the hell even was Prey before Bethesda decided not to remaster it – you’re more than welcome to listen to the podcast and figure that out. Gamers who play games

  • Ducky

This is the 50th episode of Duck in Games and this time I tried to make some research about the gamers who play games. I never understood what fun is it for little kid to play cookie clicker or what fun is it for some office worker to play Destiny 2. I never even understood, what could be so moving in the Last of Us part 1 story. And I decided to take a look into this matter and I have found some interesting stats there about those audiences and games they play. Take a listen for yourself. The episode where we take our time to admire smaller games

  • Ducky

And Dungeon Keeper. Because I have played it. And I have not much info to share. I tried to find something to talk about, to improve and to make my – most valuable – opinion count, but this time the episode is about some indie games and Dungeon Keeper. Enjoy! Halo is the pinnacle of millenial shooters

  • Ducky

All right, my fellow boomers, let’s get that Monster drinks out and have a good little chat about how new generation of people doesn’t appreciate everything ever and how we were the best ever generation that was so good, we sacrificed everything to make the best entertainment in the galaxy – watching football on TV! Remember though how we laughed at nerds and their stupid video games? Yeah! What a time to be alive! *sips Monster drink* But seriously, this episode is about Halo Combat Evolved. Boy it did evolve farther than I expected. In fact so far, that I felt myself turning into a boomer, who likes and knows how to play all those shooters, that were there in the 90-s and before even Half-Life. I still enjoyed Halo and I am still standing by it. This Episode became possible thanks to beautiful patrons: Heather Welch Tomas Høgemark Nathan… Read More »Halo is the pinnacle of millenial shooters

In the rhythm of disco!

  • Ducky

Disco Elysium is a big game. It has ambitions, it has world, it has everything to grab your interest. In fact, it grabs the interest so much, that only while rendering the episode I thought, that I have never touched the aspect of fights in the game. RPG, where fighting is not even a tertiary thing. It’s so unimportant, that you can go through the game and never even physically oppose anyone. And you may still win at the game! Well… win as in… do whatever you feel like and not get punished for it. So yeah, the whole episode is about one single game – Disco Elysium and why you should get it for yourself and play it. You will not regret it. You wouldn’t believe me, would you? But they were making everything they could to build the immersive sim and save the most amount of money in… Read More »In the rhythm of disco!
