Bethesda became more professional

  • Ducky

What if I told you that Bethesda didn’t just turn bad with Fallout 76, they didn’t even make others see what they did all these years? What if I told you, that they were trying their best at building an immersive sim? You wouldn’t believe me, would you? But they were making everything they could to build the immersive sim and save the most amount of money in the process. Apparently it didn’t work well and the more they researched, the less their games were the exciting worlds to dwell in and the more boring checkbox ticking events. Want to know more? It’s in the podcast. This Episode became possible thanks to beautiful patrons: Heather Welch Tomas Høgemark Nathan Neumeister   Have fun, have a good time, come around to say hi. Not half as bad as Half-Life 2

  • Ducky

Controversial opinions are something that I usually spill out here but this time I decided to get my honest thoughts about Half-Life 2 story. I grew up with an idea, that Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are the best ever games that humanity can hope for, but recently I thought that it’s time for us to get in there and see for ourselves if the story for Half-Life 2 is really the marvel to behold. Because I don’t think so. It has a lot of room for improvement. Evolve your games

  • Ducky

Hey you! Yes, you! You need to make the games to evolve! I know that you don’t make any games and you are here to play them, but you can endorse developers and publishers to make changes to your favorite game franchises. Consider making an objective review of the game if you will, waiting for the sale to buy the game or even telling those game jornos, that they are wrong for praising the game to have no change since the last installment. If we do that we might not get any more cloned Fifa games or calls of duties, that look like the same game over and over. And we might have genres moving towards being something better than they are now. You know how I know it? I was trying to grasp the phenomenon of JRPGs, the thing, that didn’t evolve for so long, that it took Final… Read More »Evolve your games

The audiolog you have found during your quest

  • Ducky

This is a strange audiolog you have found during your quest while you were going through that one barren wasteland, that once was our homeworld. You might want to have a listen to it because someone scratched a familiar Duckracy seal on it. Must be something worthy of your time. But then again – I’m just a flavor text, what do I know of your intentions? This item weights 0.1 pound, value of the item is 20 caps. Journey into the mental health

  • Ducky

Story that taps into the real problem of psychosis, the game, that tried and failed. But still won a video game awards of various kinds. Hellblade: Senua’s sacrifice is a game about something else. I know, that I’m not going to win any friends by calling this game out for its story, but I think it’s the wasted opportunity for the game developers, who wanted to make a game with deep meaning to finish up with just another pretentious game. You are free to disagree with me at any time. But don’t forget, that I’m not attacking anyone. I am speaking about the game and the developer company as an entity, not about the people, who skipped weekends to polish everything up and make sure things work as intended. Story or gameplay? Shocking reveal

  • Ducky

Sometimes it’s important to know which is more valuable for your game – story or the gameplay? What will be the selling point? Good story or a solid gameplay? Usually game design books tell you that gameplay is important and story too, but whatever you do, think about it yourself. Today we tap into this question and on the most basic examples we’ll decide what is more important for you. And since it’s not a subject to much debate, there is also a bonus about the shocking value of your game This Episode became possible thanks to beautiful patron: Heather Welch Tomas Høgemark Nathan Neumeister Have fun, have a good time, come around to say hi. What is the point of that all?

  • Ducky

We have discussed, what tricks you could use to make your players interested in the game and make them play it more, but tonight we look at the other side if that coin – what to avoid to make players not want to touch anything gaming related anymore. And we are doing it because Quake made me want to stop playing anything entirely for some time. Yes, that one classic Quake, that is usually praised for being the breakthrough of the shooters. But hey, let’s see, how it goes, shall we? This Episode became possible thanks to beautiful patron: Heather Welch Tomas Høgemark Nathan Neumeister Have fun, have a good time, come around to say hi. Who are you people?!

  • Ducky

When you wake up in the dank cave remembering nothing it is a very bad sign. Or it is one of those adventure game starting points and you might end up being a prince of some sort. Though amnesia of the protagonist is always considered an overused trait in gaming, there was never a shortage of developers to try and add something new and exciting to this formula. Let’s see, how and why do they make it? This Episode became possible thanks to beautiful patron: Heather Welch Tomas Høgemark Nathan Neumeister Have fun, have a good time, come around to say hi.
